Common questions.
Quick answers about subfloor preparation in Cape Town.
Why is subfloor preparation so important?
Most flooring failures — gaps, lifting, squeaks, cracking — trace back to a poorly prepared subfloor. A flat, dry, sound base is essential for long-lasting installations and is required by virtually every flooring manufacturer to validate their warranty.
Do you offer subfloor preparation as a stand-alone service?
Yes. While most of our prep work is part of a full flooring installation, we also take on stand-alone subfloor preparation for builders and contractors managing their own flooring trade.
How is moisture in a concrete slab tested?
We use calibrated moisture meters and, where required, in-situ relative humidity probes to measure moisture levels in line with manufacturer specifications before any flooring is installed.
What's involved in self-levelling a floor?
We grind, prime and pour a cementitious self-levelling compound that flows out to create a flat, smooth, true substrate — typically curing within 24–48 hours before flooring installation can begin.
